Nieuwe WKK - wetgeving in Duitsland

2009: GOOD TIMES FOR COGENERATION

On January 1st, 2009, the amendment of the German cogeneration law (KWK-Gesetz) will go into effect. This amendment includes important changes offering subsidies only to highly efficient cogeneration production. The subsidies also support existing systems that began operation before April 1st, 2002 and that can be used until 2016 after a thorough modernization. For the first time, the power used in operation will also be compensated. The wording of the amendment of the cogeneration law (ß4 Abs. 3a) does not differentiate between cogeneration facilities that went into operation before or after the introduction of the law. The subsidies for power from new facilities are still scaled according to power output and were raised particularly for smaller facilities. District heating networks are also subsidized when they transport a minimum of 50% of their heat from cogeneration plants. The German Federal Office of Economics and Export Control BAFA as the acting authority grants the licenses for cogeneration facilities and also releases source certificates for power from highly efficient cogeneration plants.
